Pink Sketches Sketch #3

Be sure and check out Pink Sketches this week to see sketch #3 and what the rest of the DT did with it! Gorgeous pages!! Way to girls! Here is my take on the sketch. I used Making Memories and BasicGrey papers, Prima flowers, KI Memories lace cardstock, Doodlebug trim sprayed with glimmer mist, Tim Holtz Grungeboard hearts, painted and covered with stickles, and American Crafts Thickers.

This was also my first attempt at more than just basic photo editing, and I love how the picture turned out. Thanks to Martha and her awesome Photoshop tutorial at Creative Scrappers, I was able to take her instructions and use a free download of Gimp to make the focal point of my picture in color and the background in black and white.

Here is the original photo:

And after editing:

Pretty cool, huh? Be sure and check out the Photography Tips & Tricks forum at Creative Scrappers for more tutorials!

A couple of pages...

Have I mentioned how much I love the September kit from Kit 'n' Kaboodles? I adore these Black Market Paper Society papers in rich browns, turquoise and green. Also included in the kit is a sheet of white Hambly frames, Thickers, Petaloo flowers, buttons, twine and some Grungeboard. Here are a couple of pages that I can share with you from this kit. I'll have some more projects soon.

I was so surprised to receive this blog award from Sophia, an amazingly talented scrapper on the Pink Sketches DT. Thank you, Sophia!!

How sweet is that? The rules for the award are - (1) The winner can put the logo on their blog. (2) Link the person you received your award from. (3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs. (4) Put links of those on yours. (5) Leave a message on the blogs of the girls or boys you’ve nominated.

Even though Sophia already hit them, I am renominating the Pink Sketches girls! Each of them are amazingly talented, and I have truly enjoyed getting to know them in the short time we have been on this DT. I need to link their blogs on mine anyway, so here they are:

Kelli
Sophia
Sarah
Jana
Penny
April

Yeah, I know the rules say at least seven, but rules are made to be broken, right?

I hope everyone has a fun-filled Labor Day weekend! Thanks for stopping by and check back in on Sunday for the next Pink Sketches reveal!

Lots of Scrappy Goodness!

Well, if you are looking for some inspiration, today is the day! Check out Pink Sketches for the reveal of Sketch #2. The DT did an amazing job with this sketch! Click here to see what they did. I hope you will join us this week and share your interpretation of the sketch. Be sure and email it to Kelli so she can post it in the Pink Gallery. Check out what readers from last week created with Sketch #1.

Here is my page for Sketch #2. I used Fancy Pants papers, Bazzill cardstock, American Crafts Thickers, Petaloo embossed velvet butterflies, Stickles, embroidery floss, and a Heidi Swapp flower behind the journaling block.

Also be sure and check out the reveal of Sketch #14 at Creative Scrappers! This is Team B's last sketch as the new DT starts in September. This week's sketch is from Cherie Averill, and here is my take on it. I used some Wild Asparagus papers, Petaloo flowers, and Making Memories, Doodlebug, and Maya Road ribbons and trims.

Be sure and check out the latest multiphoto challenge at Crop Addict this week. I have chosen a sketch from Shawn Lahr for this challenge. Click here to see the sketch this week. Here is my page using Scenic Route paper, Bazzill cardstock, Heidi Swapp, Prima, and Making Memories flowers, and American Crafts Thickers.

Journaling reads: "One of my favorite things to do is just watch the two of you play together. I love lazy, hot summer days like this where you are both happy and free. You aren't fighting over toys or pushing each other down. You are just happy to be together without a care in the world.

If I close my eyes, I can remember those days. I love that feeling I get when I think about what life was like back then - no responsibilities; no worries; no one expected anything of me other than to just be me. I hope that you two continue to just play, to be carefree and happy.

Someday you will close your eyes and remember these days - running around barefoot in the yard and laughing. This is what true happiness feels like, what it looks like, what is smells like. Thank you for letting me experience it all over again."

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have had a great weekend!

A card, a blog award, and some ramblings...

Here is a little birthday card I whipped up the other night using some of the gorgeous Crate Paper Blue Hill collection, some Prima flowers and crystals, American Crafts ribbon, and the sentiment is a Crate Paper rub on.

Roz, one of my friends from Kit 'n' Kaboodles, gave me an award! It's called the WYLDE WOMEN award and the purpose of it is "to send love and acknowledgment to women who brighten your day, teach you new things and live their lives fully with generosity and joy". Isn't that lovely? Thank you, Roz!!

The rules are:

You can give it to one or one hundred or any number in between - it's up to you.
Make sure you link to their site in your post.
Link back to Tammy's blog so that she can go to visit all these wonderful women.
Remember the Purpose of the Award.

I am giving this award to:

Carol - A dear friend of mine who now has a blog so I can give her an award lol! She is such a talented scrapper and a wonderful woman. I love chatting with her on the phone and on the boards. She has amazing strength and continues to spread joy despite everything she has been through.

Chris - I love her passion for scrapping! She always makes me laugh, and I am amazed at her willpower in her quest to make lifestyle changes to improve her health. My hat is off to anyone who can give up caffeine cold turkey! Way to go girl!

Kim - This girl has a heart of gold. Her crafting talent is beyond amazing, and I am just in awe of everything she posts on her blog. In chatting with her, I have discovered that she and I have a lot in common, and if we lived closer to each other, I know we would be inseparable.

There are so many other people that I would like to give this award too, but I need to get some work done tonight!

More KnK August kit creations

Here are a couple more goodies from the August kit at Kit 'n' Kaboodles. We received a white Sara Surfaces 8 1/2 x 11 portfolio in our kit this month, and I turned mine into a place to store sketches that I have printed out. I used the KaiserCraft papers in the kit to alter the outside of my envelope. For the closure, I glued a washer to the back of the Prima flowers to make them stand up off of the portfolio and give me a place to wind the embroidery floss. I then attached them to the portfolio with the KaiserCraft decorative brads in the kit. I tied embroidery floss to one of the washers and then secured it shut by winding the floss around the flowers in a figure 8 pattern. I used cardstock from the kit and cardstock add on to create the dividers to fit inside the portfolio. They are labeled by number of photos to be used on the sketch (i.e. 1 photo, 2 photos, etc.). I used the 7gypsies stickers in the kit to label the dividers as well.

And here is a little card I made with the kit too.

And I am so excited to say that one of the layouts that I created using this gorgeous kit is going to be published in the January/February 2009 issue of Memory Makers! This will be my first print magazine publication, and I am beyond thrilled!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great day!

So excited!!

I happened to stumble across a new sketch blog, Pink Sketches the other day, and saw the call for the Design Team. I am loving sketch blogs right now, and really enjoy being on the DT at Creative Scrappers, so on a whim, I submitted my application to the owner, Kelli. I just found out tonight that I made the team!! I am so totally surprised and excited, and I cannot wait to get started with our first sketch! The live launch of this blog will be on August 17th, so be sure and check it out!
